Q. What is BurningPockets.com?
A. It is a social networking consumer review website that allows each user to create a unique profile defining themselves through the products they own and love or hate, and the friendships they have gained. Current features include browsing through users based on personal profile information, linked products, and linked friendships.

Q. What is the origin of all these products?
A. BurningPockets.com is hooked up to Amazon.com. Any products available to purchase on Amazon will be available through this site. Sometimes the search brings back weird results but you have to be very specific because they like to make it difficult on us.

Q. How do I register for my own profile?
A. It is super easy. If you go to the Sign Up page, you only have to provide a real email and a username. All other information can be filled out at that moment or you can edit them in your profile later. Once you sign up, an email instantaneously sends with your newly generated password. You have a legitimate user and can now log in to start your profile.

Q. How do I find other people?
A. There are two ways.

1. You can go the quick route and search the user if you know any text detail of their profile which includes username, city, or 500 letters of fame. If you search using the header search bar up top, it will search both users and products. To be more specific, you can go to Search and choose “User Profiles” from the dropdown box. This link also lives on the horizontal link bar on the top menu.

2. If you don’t know any detail about a specific person and want to do a more generalized search, you can go to Browse Users. This allows you to specify each individual field in a profile except username and 500 letters of fame. As an example you can find all men, in a relationship, living in Woodward, OK, and are Talk show hosts. This is great if you just want to meet specific people or if you are browsing for a friend.

Q. How do I tell my friends?
A. Go to Invite Friends and add as many emails as you can fit. To build a great network and website with awesome content, this is the key.

Q. What is the layout scheme of my profile?
A. So basically your personal info starts at the top. Your face is the moneymaker of this thing. We don’t want to emphasize anything but you. After that, your top 8 friends are listed. This list is unique because everyone is ranked in order of money. The more valuable you are, the more face time you have on your friends’ profiles. Continuing down we have the Message Board which is a basic posting center for anybody who is a member. There are no restrictions to what goes on here so have fun. Each member easily has access to deleting inappropriate messages so don’t be a smartass. To the right of the Message Board are facts comparing the user against the BurningPockets.com community as well as facts against you, the user viewing the profile. This of course does not work if you are not logged in as a member. After that comes the meat of the profile, your products. These are separated into 7 sections: Electronics, Movies, Books, Music, Clothing/Shoes/Apparel, Health & Beauty, Sporting Goods, Household Items, and Miscellaneous. Each section will only be displayed if the user has a product in that section. Also, five products will randomly be displayed on the profile. If a user wants to see the entire collection, a link will show up. There are also quick link launches up and down the page so you don’t have to scroll forever.

Q. How do I edit my profile?
A. You have a few options here. The first is to log in, and click the “[Edit Profile]” link direction under your total value. Also, you can look to the right on the side navigational menu. The bottom link is “Edit Profile.”

Q. How do I edit a product such as move it to a different section, delete it, or change my product review?
A. Given that you’re logged into your profile, you can either click one of the Edit Profile links or you can scroll to that section and click the “Add/Edit *Section Name*.” By doing this, it’ll take you directly to that section for editing. There are links next to each product for editing and deleting.

Q. How do I Add friends?
A. There are various places throughout the application to add friends. You can click the “Add To Friends” link at the top of everyone’s page or you have many options when searching, browsing, or viewing users linked by products.

Q. Are personal messages secret?
A. Of course they are. Nobody can see the messages you send except yourself and the user who sent them. This doesn’t mean you creepy guys out there can start being raunchy. The point of the messaging service was to help the communication lines between product users. If you see a product you’re interested in buying on a user’s profile, just send them a message. Consider the message feature as having a subject matter expert for any product you want at your hands.

Q. What is the 15 minutes of fame?
A. On everyone’s profile they have a description section titled “500 letters of fame.” In this section, you can say whatever you want up to 500 characters long. Anything from this section excluding images added, will be displayed along with your photo and name in the 15 minutes of fame box. This box generates a random user every time the page is reloaded. Everyone will get to see it at some point so have fun selling yourself or whatever you want.

Q. What are Featured Products?
A. These are randomly generated products that users own in the system. You can click on “Link to Users” to see who owns each product.

Q. What is “Top Spenders?”
A. These are the top 5 spenders in the Burning Pockets community.

Q. Can I buy an Amazon product through BurningPockets.com?
A. Sorta… Every product image and name link directly back to Amazon.com. We swear it’s legitimate so when you click on it, it’ll take you right back to the full description page for that specific product. From that point, you can add that product right to your cart and move along with the purchase.

Q. Where can I see updates on the website such as issues and future enhancements?
A. Our administrator keeps a running blog at Burning Pockets Weblog. If you check this out on a weekly basis, you will find any updates to the website and the current status.

Q. I noticed the Amazon Search is slow sometimes, is my computer broken?
A. NO, nor is the site… Amazon provides a public connection that is very very useful but it also is very very slow. We are working with Amazon to create a better interface so the searching is much faster and possibly will return more results. By October 2006, the newly improved search should be up. Check the Burning Pockets Weblog to see updates on this issue.

Q. Amazon is too slow to add products, any other options to add products?
A. There sure are. Any product you see on a user's profile has already been saved in the Burning Pockets system. If you click the add to products link, it will take you directly to the Add Products page which allows you to comment on the product and place it in a section. If you still can't find what you need, you can try searching for the product. If you go to Search and choose "Products" from the dropdown box, the keywords you search will look at product names and description already stored in the system. This search applies to products both owned by products and those not owned. I hope these two options will give you a better option if Amazon is slowing down. The key to making this work is the size and cooperation of the community. The more people we get = the more products we store = the more fun we can have.

Q. What if people lie just to make it to the top?
A. Well, they suck. We are currently working on a community democratic voting system that allows users to be demoted in rankings based on the community trust of their profile. It’s very simple, each user can vote once against a user’s profile. It will be a system from -5 up to +5. If we feel a user reaches a certain threshold, they will be excluded from all rankings in searches, browsing, friend lists, and the Top 5 Spenders. We stress that our main goal at BurningPockets.com is to provide genuine product reviews. I mean, it’s definitely fun as hell to add some jokes about stuff or mess around, but if we really put together a site full of truthful content, we will all stop making dumb purchases and falling for false advertisements in Corporate America.

Q. Can I post an advertisement on BurningPockets.com?
